ryan brandUniversity of Detroit Jesuit (Mich.) 2015 quarterback Ryan Brand may be under-sized at 5-foot-10 and 182-pounds but there is no doubt that he is talented dual-threat quarterback, who works hard to be the best. After putting in great and consistent production during the Elite 11 circuit this year, Brand was awarded an invitation to the Elite 11 by Seattle Seahawk quarterback Russell Wilson.

Obviously this is very deserving honor for Brand who is coming off of an impressive junior season, where he lead his team to their first District title in 12 years. He currently holds offers from the Air Force and Indiana State and he is constantly gaining interest from other schools like Northwestern who he is set visit Northwestern on Thursday, and Pittsburgh, where he camped at this past weekend.

I don’t know about you but I think this is only the beginning for Brand. As I mentioned above, he is already starting to gain more college interest and it is only a matter of time before his offer sheet starts to fill up with more offers.

I know he may not have the pro-typical size, but size doesn’t define a quarterback, intelligence and skill does and Brand has, certainly has intelligence and skill. He continues to be consistent quarterback, always hitting receivers in stride and putting them in a position to succeed. As dual threat quarterback, he has natural ability to make plays with his feet. Most importantly, Brand is a student of the game, he is someone who is always looking to learn and get better, whether it be through watching film or putting in work on the field, when everyone else is at home.

If you ask me, I think Russell Wilson sees a little of himself in Brand but most importantly, I think he sees the heart of Brand and if you remember, that’s the main thing that matters to Wilson and he said so during the post-game press conference at Super Bowl XLVIII.

“It doesn’t matter what you look like. It doesn’t matter if you’re black or white, Latino or Asian. It doesn’t matter if you’re 5-11. It’s the heart that you have.” – Russell Wilson

In conclusion, be sure to remember the name ‘Ryan Brand,’ because I can guarantee you that you will hear his name more and more as the off-season continues and the upcoming football season gets closer.
