The Voices for Action Think Tank will release the findings from the forums held last June during the 50th Anniversary Commemorative Walk celebration.  Voices for Action will hold host a community forum from 9:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the UAW Ford National Programs Center located at 151 W. Jefferson.  This event is free and open to the public.

Some of the issued the think tank sessions focused on were:

·       Public Education;

·       Labor;

·       Neighborhood Development; and

·       Health Care

“During the commemoration we wanted to keep with the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.” said Rev. V. Lonnie Peek, Jr.  “The forums were constructed to address the social issues as advocated by Dr. King, from today’s perspective. We promised during the sessions that we would come back to the community and share with them what we learned.  We will use this as a continuation point to keep working and addressing the issues expressed by the community.”

More than 600 people participated in the forums held the day before the Commemorative Freedom Walk Down Woodward.  Both the Voices for Action think tank sessions and the Commemorative Freedom Walk Down Woodward were chaired by Rev. Dr. Wendell Anthony, President, Detroit Branch NAACP and Jimmy Settles, Vice President, UAW Ford.
