WASHINGTON D.C. – More than 100 of the law students elected and appointed to the NBLSA national and regional boards will convene in Detroit this weekend.  NBLSA alumni Congressman Hansen Clarke will provide the keynote address and speak on his student loan debt forgiveness initiative on Saturday, June 23 at 3:30 pm at the Damon J. Keith Center for Civil Rights at Wayne State University Law School.


Congressman Clarke’s address will be a part of a weekend of planning and organizing events where the organization will make plans for the 2012-2013 academic year, which will include promoting the educational, professional, political, and social needs of students of color in law schools across the country. 


WHO: Founded in 1968, the National Black Law Students Association (NBLSA) is a national, non-profit organization representing nearly 6,000 Black law students from virtually every law school accredited by the American Bar Association. NBLSA convenes annually in the summer to plan its agenda for the coming academic year. For more info please visit www.NBLSA.org.
