myFOXDetroit.com – Police say a Taylor man’s bedroom walls were plastered with graphic sexual images of children. Now, they’re trying to determine if local children were victimized.
Every day a school bus stops at the corner of Cyprus and Taylor and children get out in front of the home of 53-year-old Richard Zorn, a man investigators say filled the walls of his bedroom with sickening photos of child pornogrpahy. Seasoned investigators say it’s the worst case they’ve ever seen.
“I’ve never seen a shrine, for lack of (a) better term, of stolen innocence,” said Ellis Stafford with Michigan State Police. “When they say child porn, we’re talking things that range from subtle to gross.”
Police are alarmed because Zorn had close contact with children. This summer, he was an assistant coach of the Taylor Blaze, a girl’s softball team through the parks and recreation department. He also works for Taylor’s Department of Public Works.
“He would set photos out on a desk or a table. He would expose himself and photograph that image,” said internet investigator Ray Johnson.
“That’s disgusting. It really is for you to have child pornography all over your walls,” said one woman.
“As a parent, yeah, I’m horrified. I’m actually terrified right now. I’m just thinking about… we live right down the street… It’s very scary,” said another woman.
Zorn has no previous criminal history, but the photos and videos he’s been trading online date back to 2003. He told police he made a stupid mistake, but doesn’t believe he’s done anything wrong. He posted $250,000 cash and is out on bond.
Police are hoping none of the children on that softball team or in the neighborhood were ever molested by Zorn, but they say they just don’t know for sure. Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department.
