DETROIT (WXYZ) – Detroit City Council President Charles Pugh was involved in a minor traffic accident that caused significant damage to his city-owned car.
The accident happened on Friday, February 5. However, while he notified the council’s executive protection staff, Pugh did not report it until Monday.
According to the police report, Pugh was driving on southbound I-75 near Mack. He says he was moving to exit the freeway when he saw an unknown vehicle approaching quickly from behind.
Pugh says he veered to the left to avoid the vehicle, hitting the curb and a sign on the ramp. The crash damaged the driver side of the vehicle. Pugh drove home and then had the car towed the next day. He wasn’t hurt.
