(myFOXDetroit.com Staff Reports) – Detroit Police Chief Warren Evans submitted his resignation Wednesday, putting an end to his one-year run as the city’s top cop.

“We appreciate the time and dedication that Warren Evans has given to the Detroit Police Department,” said Mayor Dave Bing in a statement. “He has put the department on a path to reducing crime.”

Assistant Chief of Police Ralph Godbee will now serve as Interim Chief.

Evans served as Wayne County Sheriff prior to his time in the Detroit police department.
