Embattled and broke, political consultant Sam Riddle lashes out at his critics and plans to raise some cash in the process. He is calling his latest stunt the “haters auction”.
Riddle has thousands of friends and fans on Facebook and Twitter, but there are a few he calls “haters,” and he is using their words to pay his legal bills.
“Justin, thank you for hating. Your comments are worth dollars,” said Riddle as he signed a posting from his Facebook page from one of his “haters,” those people who do not support him and send nasty messages.
Riddle read another posting, “Morning, Sam. Sleep well? I did, but then I don’t have jail in my future.” He then responded, “I don’t have jail in my future, either.”
Being in the public eye and under such intense scrutiny, it seems no subject is off limits.
“Sam, close your big, ugly mouth the next time you take a pic. Scrub your teeth with steel wire brush. It will get the yellow off those crocked, chipmunk teeth you have,” Riddle said as he read yet another posting.
Ouch. However, Sam’s taking the insults in stride and trying to turn the criticism into cash.
“If they can take the time and effort to come on my Facebook page and say all of these vile things, then certainly I ought to be able to make a couple of dollars off these jerks,” said Riddle.
He is planning a “haters auction” next week. It will be a silent auction with the Facebook slams signed and framed, all to raise money for his legal defense fund. With two corruption cases in federal court and a domestic assault charge, as well, Riddle’s legal bills are piling up.
“20 is plenty. If you don’t have the $20, bring some pop bottles. We’ll take those. We’ll cash them in. Whatever you have, we’ll take,” Riddle said.
Riddle will be back in court on April 13. He is accused of violating his bond in the assault case. Assuming he is not sent back to jail, he will be at the haters auction next week and haters, he says, are welcome.
“See how much your artwork will bring at the silent (haters) auction to help Sam Riddle’s legal defense fund. We appreciate you haters,” said Riddle.
The haters auction takes place on Tuesday, April 20 at Bert’s in Eastern Market.
