Poll shows Executive Robert Ficano not getting support for re-election but Mayor Bing is in the running

bildeSeventy percent of Wayne County voters hold an unfavorable view of County Executive Robert Ficano, according to a poll this week by Target Insyght of Lansing.

Ficano tied for last in a field of five candidates who could seek his job next August, polling just 11%.

Detroit Mayor Dave Bing scored highest at 20%, followed by state Rep. Phil Cavanagh, D-Redford Township, at 15% and county Commissioner Kevin McNamara at 12%. Westland Mayor William Wild tied Ficano with 11%.

Ed Sarpolus, a longtime pollster, said just 10% of voters said the county was on the right track, while 54% said it’s on the wrong track. The rest weren’t sure.

On the question of how Ficano is handling his job, 52% said poor, 24% said just fair, 13% said pretty good and 4% said excellent.
