Gunman arrested after causing evacuation at GM Romulus Powertrain plant

ROMULUS (WXYZ) – Police say the gunman who caused an evacuation at the GM Powertrain plant in Romulus had only a gun that shoots blanks in his possession.

The disgruntled long-time employee was carrying a starter pistol. Police say he just wanted to talk about working conditions that he believed were poor.

The plant was evacuated early Friday morning after the suspect entered and was threatening suicide.

He has since been detained by Romulus Police. They were accompanied by Van Buren Township Police who helped work to coax the suspect out of the plant.

Wednesday, 04/10/13 – 4:23 a.m.

CIRCUMSTANCES:

In the 15400 block of Schaefer, the suspect forced entry through a security gate and window of the local business.  The suspect fled from the location with business properties, merchandie,  and an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency

WANTED:

Suspect:  Black male, wearing all dark clothing and a sweater with a hood.

Wednesday, 04/10/13 – 5:25 a.m.

CIRCUMSTANCES:

In the 11200 of East Jefferson, a vehicle (white, 1997, 4-door, Dodge Stratus)was driven through the front glass of a local business.  The business was ransacked, and the vehicle was left at the scene, unoccupied.  Unknown what was taken at this time.

Wednesday, 04/10/13 – 12:30 p.m.

CIRCUMSTANCES:

In the 15500 block of Joy Road, the suspects entered the local business (H&R Block Tax Service), produced weapon and demanded items from one male victim, 50, and two female victims, ages 59, and 42. The suspects escaped in a vehicle (2000-2005, 2-door, burgundy, Chevy Monte Carlo) with an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency, personal items and blank checks. The victims were not injured.

WANTED:

Suspect #1:  Black male, 5′-10″, 175 lbs, medium complexion, medium length afro, wearing a black sweater with a hood, black cap, black jeans, and armed.

Suspect #2: Black male, 5′-10″, 150 lbs, light complexion, wearing a dark green Michigan State University sweater with a Spartan emblem on the front and has a hood, black jeans and boots (Brand name (Timberland).

Suspect #3:   Black male: No additional description at  this time.

Thursday, 04/11/13 – 12:15 a.m.

CIRCUMSTANCES:

In the 13500 block of Puritan, the male victim, 34, entered his vehicle and discovered the suspect in the backseat.  The suspect produced a weapon and physically assaulted the victim,  ordering him to drive.  The suspect then ordered the victim out of the vehicle, and escaped in the his car (black, 2002, 2-door, Pontaic Grand Prix) with an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency and personal items.  The victim received minor injuries.

WANTED:

Suspect:  Black male, 20’s, 5’-9”, dark complexion, wearing a black sweater with a hood and armed.
