In her new comedy special film ¡Viva America! renowned actress/comedian/writer Maria Costa (whom critics have compared to the likes of a Latina Lucille Ball, Richard Pryor and Lily Tomlin) portrays an array of hilarious, thought provoking characters whose lives are profoundly affected by immigration in the U.S.
Reflecting on her experiences growing up in the ethnically diverse area of Southwest Detroit and being born into a family of Hungarian and Cuban immigrants, Costa transforms herself into an outrageous line up of comic personas. From a boisterous Latino immigrant to a conservative Southern politician, Maria brilliantly captures the multicultural voice of today’s America.
Costa, whose Cuban fire has also spread to roles in several television shows like Ugly Betty and Strong Medicine, is joined by a premier supporting cast from TV’s hottest shows. The comedy special also features sizzling performances from some of Latin music’s most highly regarded artists and is directed by Rick Najera (Nothing Like the Holidays, Mad TV, In Living Color).
Following the premier there will be a question and answer session with Costa, and a muy calliente Salsa music and dance After Party with the cast – so be sure to bring your dancing shoes! Learn more about the Salsa Party here.
