DETROIT (WXYZ) – Detroit City Council has voted 6-3 to fire Corporation Counsel Krystal Crittendon.
The move is effective immediately.
Mayor Bing addressed the firing at a 3:00 p.m news conference.
The firing of Crittendon came after Detroit Mayor Dave Bing requested Council fire Crittendon during his appearance before the body.
Crittendon is the attorney who sued to prevent the financial stability agreement last year. After filing the lawsuit Crittendon said she was just following the law.
Crittendon says city leaders did not have the authority to make a deal with the governor and the treasury because the state owes Detroit money.
At the time Mayor Bing said that the lawsuit threatened the financial stability of the city.
The lawsuit was later thrown out by a judge.
