On Sunday, October 28, 2012 at 4 p.m. Rainbow PUSH Detroit will join community leaders for a voter mobilization rally at Galilee Baptist Church located at 5251 E. Outer Dr., Detroit, MI 48234.
“This is a critical election and a critical time. We must continue to push for voter access, education and engagement. On Sunday we will rally and transport citizens to the polls. As we continue to crusade for America we continue to fight so that people have the opportunity to vote without any arbitrary barriers,” said D. Alexander Bullock.
Prior to the event Rainbow PUSH Detroit, in conjunction with Greater St. Matthew Baptist Church, will drive voters to the polls after Sunday service for in person absentee voting. Churches around the city of Detroit are encouraged to do the same. Registered voters wanting to vote via in-person absentee may meet at Greater St. Matthew Baptist Church this Sunday at 12:30 p.m. for a ride to the polling location. The church is located at 396 LaBelle, Highland Park, MI 48203. Sunday’s rally will be inclusive of voter education around the 2012 Michigan and Detroit ballot proposals. Earlier this month Rainbow PUSH Michigan partnered with Detroit City Clerk Janice Winfrey to open two in-person absentee voting locations. The locations are at the WCCCD Northwestern and Eastern campus which are located at: 8200 W. Outer Dr., Detroit, MI 48219 and 5901 Conner, Detroit, MI 48213.
