Iesha Hill was arrested Saturday in Stockton, California after allegedly feeding her 5-month-old daughter Bacardi, KTXL Fox 40 reports. Her family says it was all a horrible accident because the mom unknowingly used a water bottle filled with alcohol to make baby formula. The baby, Vanessa, is being treated at UC Davis Medical Center and is expected to make a full recovery.
“She’s a good mom,” Iesha’s mother, Tressie Piggee, told Fox 40. “We all make our mistakes. She does the best she can.”

Iesha’s family says that a water bottle filled with Bacardi was assumed to be baby formula and accidentally fed it to the infant on Friday night. “I was making formula at 2 am and didn’t know that the plastic bottle next to the baby’s formula was filled with Bacardi – and not water,’ Piggee explained.
The baby’s head began wobbling the next morning, prompting the mother to check the bottle. It was then that she realized the bottle had alcohol in it.
The family immediately took the child to the hospital. Staff tending to the child called the cops who then arrested Iesha on child abuse charges. Iesha is still in jail.
The child is being monitored carefully at the hospital. When baby Vanessa is released from the hospital, it is unclear whether or not she will be given to her family or Child Protective Services.
The baby’s grandmother says she feels terrible about the incident because it was not her fault.
“We feel bad for the baby because she’s up there suffering right now because of our mistakes,” Piggee said.
