ASK THE EXPERTS: Building A Successful Business

By: Thomas E Hardiman Sr.

Many people say they want to be successful! Yet, few are willing to pay the price of success.

Success in any endeavor is dependent upon several factors. The most important ones; willingness to work hard, being properly prepared, developing a disciplined lifestyle, and being persistent in achieving one’s goal.

I want us to ask ourselves this question, “What is the difference between successful business people and those who are not successful”? Regardless of the answer we come up with, it boils down to the six inches between our ears which is our Brain. In the book by James Allen, ”As a Man Thinketh”, it shows that how we think is the most important aspect to how our lives develop.

When we truly examine success in business, we will discover that success is not equivalent to having a large house, lots of money, fine clothes, luxury cars, being handsome or beautiful, tall or short, black or white, young or old, male or female, or being born with a silver spoon in his/her mouth. Although some people who have become successful business people may happen to have one or more of these items or traits, it is how they think which truly propels them to the higher mantels of success in business or other endeavors. Remember, success is not how many material things you own or how much money you make in business, it is the quality of one’s life and the fulfilling of God’s purpose for one’s life which is true success. Its okay to enjoy the material things which comes with monetary success, however, never let material things consume or control you. God has a higher purpose for our lives than just the accumulation of wealth and material things.

There have been many books written on the subject of success. Listed below are some basic building blocks for building a successful business:
