MyFOXDetroit.com - There are more questions than answers for a man who just learned a barrage of bullets struck his brother while he was sitting in his car in front of the Marathon gas station at Mack and Connor.
It happened so fast there’s no way he would have seen it coming. Police believe this was a planned hit.
“He was the target of this shooting. It doesn’t appear to be random just based on the amount of shots that were fired,” said Detroit Police Commander Steve Dolunt.
The gas station owner showed us the surveillance video that captured what happened. It shows a white Chevy Blazer pull up. The passenger, wearing a hooded sweatshirt, gets out, runs over and using a white car as a shield, fires 15 rounds into the driver side of a black Buick.
A 22-year-old was shot in the head and several times on his side.
“They hurt him. He’s just bad, you know, to the soul,” said the victim’s cousin, Foster. “You know, when I heard about it, I just broke down.”
The victim was taken to St. John Hospital where he remains in critical condition.
“Good person, and all we got to do is pray. He’ll come out of this strong,” said Niesha Lucas, the victim’s cousin.
“Far as I know, he couldn’t (have done) too much. He just got home. He was just released from prison,” Foster said.
Police hope witnesses during the broad daylight shooting will be able to reveal some key details.
Investigators are also relying on the surveillance images to identify and locate the white Chevy Blazer and the two people inside who took off northbound on Connor.
